Mobile physical therapy in Northern Virginia

One-on-one physical therapy delivered in your home, apartment, senior living community, or another appropriate setting. Every visit is with the same licensed physical therapist, and every plan is built around your goals and your daily life. MS and neurologic conditions are my specialty, not my limit.

Please do not send detailed medical or health information by regular email.

Mahad Ali, PT

Who I work with.

One practice, one physical therapist. These are the people and problems I see most.

  • Older adults who want to stay independent at home
  • Balance problems and falls
  • Walking difficulty
  • Weakness and deconditioning
  • Parkinson's and stroke recovery
  • Multiple sclerosis
  • Other neurologic mobility conditions
  • Anyone who has difficulty getting to a traditional clinic

Two specialized pathways.

Start with the one that fits. Both are one-on-one, in your home, with the same physical therapist.

What physical therapy may focus on.

Every plan is individual. These are common areas of work, not promised outcomes.

  • Balance and fall prevention

Steadier footing for the moments that matter: hallways, bathrooms, curbs, and stairs.

  • Walking and gait

Walking pattern, endurance, and confidence on the surfaces you use every day.

  • Strength for daily life

Sit-to-stand, carrying, and household tasks. Strength that shows up in your routine.

  • Transfers

Bed, chair, car, and bathroom transfers practiced until they feel routine, not risky.

  • Neurologic mobility

Foot drop, spasticity, and coordination with specialist-level attention. MS is my specialty.

  • Rebuilding after illness or hospitalization

A gradual, paced return to activity and independence.

What to expect and where care happens

  • 60-minute follow-up visits
  • Original Medicare enrollment in progress
  • Mobile care throughout Northern Virginia
  • Payment options and travel considerations discussed before booking
  • Referral required before treatment begins

Physical therapy on this site is provided by Mahad PT, my mobile outpatient physical therapy practice, currently enrolling with Original Medicare. I treat a range of conditions — MS is my specialty. Mahad MS PT is the wider brand around it: the same clinician, also behind the coaching and Mind Over Nerves.

Mahad MS PT serves Northern Virginia. Exact location, availability, and any travel considerations are confirmed during the consultation.

Appointments can take place in your home or, when permission, privacy, safety, and clinical appropriateness allow, at a gym, workplace, or another mutually agreed location. Exact location and service-area availability will be confirmed before scheduling.

A referral from an authorized healthcare provider is required before physical therapy treatment begins. You may request a consultation before obtaining the referral, and Mahad will explain the next step.

Private-pay services

When private pay is appropriate, here is exactly what each service includes. Pricing is discussed during your consultation.

  • 60 minutes

    Initial evaluation

One-on-one, in your home or apartment. A full movement assessment, your goals, and a written plan you keep.

  • 60 minutes

    Follow-up visit

One-on-one, in your home. Treatment, progression, and re-testing against your goals.

  • 90 minutes

    MS comprehensive assessment

Standardized MS-specific testing of walking, balance, and strength, a written program, and a follow-up plan. The full specialist workup.

Travel is included anywhere in the core service area: Alexandria, Springfield, Annandale, Burke, Fairfax, Falls Church, and Arlington. Outside that area, we discuss it before booking.

If you have Original Medicare and need covered physical therapy, services are billed through Medicare, not private pay. Private pay is for patients without applicable coverage or services beyond what is covered.

What mobile care looks like

Physical therapy is provided by Mahad in his role as a physical therapist. 1:1 MS Coaching and educational resources are separate offerings focused on coaching and education.

  1. Step 1

    Start with a conversation

Contact Mahad to discuss your general needs and location. He will help you decide if mobile physical therapy may be appropriate.

  2. Step 2

    Confirm the details

Mahad will confirm service-area availability, location suitability, scheduling, and any requirements that apply before care begins.

  3. Step 3

    Build an individualized plan

If the service is a good fit, care begins with an evaluation and a plan based on your goals, movement needs, environment, and clinical presentation.

Common questions

What does mobile physical therapy mean?

Rather than travelling to a clinic, appointments take place where you live or move. That makes it possible to work on movement in the same environment you deal with every day.

Who is this for?

Adults in Northern Virginia who want individualized, one-on-one physical therapy at home. MS is my specialty — and I live with it too — but you don't need an MS diagnosis to work with me.

How does payment work?

Mahad PT is a mobile outpatient physical therapy practice. I'm currently completing enrollment with Original Medicare — once active, eligible covered services will be billed according to Medicare requirements. If you have Original Medicare, covered physical therapy services are billed through Medicare. Private-pay options are available when appropriate; contact me to discuss your situation.

Can I use out-of-network benefits?

Information about possible superbill documentation can be discussed during your consultation. A superbill does not guarantee reimbursement, and clients should verify their benefits directly with their insurance company.

Do you specialize in multiple sclerosis?

Yes. MS is my specialty, and I live with MS myself. But my practice isn't limited to MS — I work one-on-one with adults throughout Northern Virginia on a range of conditions.

Do you come to my home?

Yes. I'm completely mobile, so I come to you. I see people in Alexandria, Arlington, Fairfax, and surrounding areas.

What happens during the first visit?

The first visit is a full 60-minute evaluation. We'll talk about what has changed, your symptoms, what you're having trouble with, and what you want to improve. I'll also assess things like walking, strength, balance, mobility, and how your symptoms are affecting you day to day. We'll discuss payment options during your consultation, including Original Medicare (once enrollment is active) or private-pay options when appropriate.

How is this different from regular physical therapy?

Every visit is one-on-one, in your home, for the full hour — not a crowded clinic. And because MS is my specialty, neurological presentations like foot drop, spasticity, and fatigue get specialist-level attention.

What areas do you serve?

I see people throughout Northern Virginia, including Alexandria, Arlington, Fairfax, Burke, Lorton, and nearby areas. If you're not sure whether I come to your area, just reach out and ask.

Do I need a doctor's referral?

A referral from an authorized healthcare provider is required before physical therapy treatment begins. You may request a consultation before obtaining the referral, and Mahad will explain the next step.
